I usually use Blaze Media Pro for audio conversion, tagging and compression for MP3 players (64kbps still sounds clear and takes little space on a non-HD player). For audio ripping? I rarely rip these days but I usually use either Nero, Windows Media Player (then convert to MP3), Blaze Media Pro works too I think, quite a versatile program with a nice interface and works on Audio and Video too. 'Course, it isn't Adobe Audition or Premiere.
